Customizing an AMP System

The standard AMP System platform is intended to be a generator alternative for many common remote power needs. We realize that your power needs and budget may be more modest than the standard AMP System configurations. You may also have power needs that exceed the standard AMP System platform's capabilities. For these reasons, we would be happy to custom design a mobile power or entertainment unit to your requirements.

Lesser Needs

To build an AMP System for more modest requirements, the largest factor is reducing the size of the battery bank, which is the most costly and heavy component of the average system. This will reduce the amount of capacity, of course, but for smaller or shorter power needs, it often makes sense. We can also reduce the output power with smaller inverting equipment and/or modified sine-wave inverters. If you do not need a pure sine wave inverter to operate your devices, this may be a good option for you. We can reduce or eliminate solar power from your system, allowing you to draw power from batteries and recharge using only clean electricity from your electric company. You may also choose to select and install your own entertainment devices.

Because the custom heavy-duty trailer itself is a significant part of the cost of an AMP System, there is a lower limit to the capacity of the standard AMP System platform that makes economic sense. A smaller trailer may be substituted for very small systems, but keep in mind that the trailer must handle the weight of heavy deep-cycle batteries. Greater Needs

The limiting factors of our standard AMP System platform are the size of the battery bank (storage capacity), space for electrical components (output power), and surface area for solar energy collection. There are several reasons you may wish to increase the size and capacity of an AMP System:

  • Higher output capacity to power heavier loads.
  • More storage capacity to run your devices for a longer period of time.
  • More solar panels to produce more energy from the sun.
  • Larger space for other equipment to transport in the trailer.

When moving to systems with higher capacity or output, a larger trailer may be considered. In any case, it is important to balance the components of the system based on your anticipated use. For example, if you intend to operate your AMP System only during the day, you may want more solar panels to produce energy, but do not need to store much energy in batteries for nighttime use. You may intend to use your AMP System exclusively at night and recharge the system using utility power, meaning solar panels are not required. If you intend to use a lot of electricity for a short period of time, you would need a large inverter and battery bank. But, if you plan to use a small amount of energy over a long period of time, you may prefer a small inverter with a moderate size battery bank.
